This course is perfect if you’re looking for a career in graphic design and/or animation within the digital design industry.

You’ll learn the skills needed to design digital media products, such as:

  • Graphic design
  • Digital illustration
  • Animation and motion graphics
  • Digital photography
  • Web design
  • Concept art

You can expect a course that offers a broad range of practical study, in great facilities with top-of-the-range equipment. You’ll complete a final portfolio of work and exhibit your best pieces in a professional end of year showcase. Throughout the course you’ll have the opportunity to work and engage with real clients.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grade 9–4 (A*–C), including English Language and maths – both of these must be grade 9–4 (A*–C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and maths, or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and maths GCSE grades 9–4 (A*–C). You will also need a portfolio or showreel of work.

Teaching & assessment

Assessment is continuous and will consist of a portfolio of reports, presentations and creative projects plus a final major project at the end of the year.

Progression

Choose to follow with further study at degree level in multimedia or a degree-level programme in digital media, and job opportunities include web design, graphic design, print or animation.
