Motor Vehicle

If you’re interested in a career in the motor industry and would like an unbeatable experience – read on!

We are the region’s most established provider of automotive training, with courses approved by the motor industry body: the Institute of the Motor Industry (IMI).

Our workshops are fully equipped with the latest diagnostic equipment and technology, to ensure our students have the most up-to-date industry knowledge, and hands-on experience with the kit used by motor industry professionals.

Our wide range of cars, bikes and engine-based projects will allow you to gain experience working on different types of vehicles. This will help you to prepare for your future career, by developing your awareness of working in a typically varied automotive environment.

Depending on the course level, you will learn all about engines, chassis, electrical systems, suspension, gearboxes, and all the other elements needed to become a vehicle technician. We have multiple diagnostic systems in use, online simulation packages to enhance your learning experience and the tools for every job. You’ll also have the chance to learn about customer service and the importance of good communication skills, working individually and as part of a team.

We are also proud to offer a range of qualifications, from Entry 3 throughto courses at Level 1, 2 and 3 that include the servicing and repair of electric and hybrid vehicles. These new skills and levels of technical knowledge are already opening up more job opportunities for our students, with demand expected to continue to increase in the future.

Levels

We are proud to offer a range of qualifications, from Entry 3 through to courses at Levels 1, 2 and 3, which include the servicing and repair of electrical and hybrid vehicles. Our Level 4 master technician qualification allows students to further increase their professional knowledge.

We have responded to industry needs by increasing our motor vehicle course content and training - which have been specially designed to provide the practical skills, experience and knowledge needed to thrive in a modern, competitive and ever growing automotive industry.

All of our motor vehicle courses equip our students with the skills and abilities that are becoming more and more important to employers in the industry - especially as sales of hybrid and electric vehicles increase. These skills open up more opportunities to Nottingham College students, with demand expected to continue to increase in the future.

There are a vast number of career options in the industry – whether you would like to be an Automotive technician, a Caravan Technician, a Customer Service Advisor, an Electrician, a Forecourt Sales Assistant, a Garage Manager, a Mechanic Engineer, a Motorcycle Technician, a Motorsport Technician or a Vehicle Body Repair Operator – there are many choices available to you.
