This course is perfect if you are interested in a career as a make-up artist and want to perfect your skills for a successful career in this highly skilled industry.
You’ll learn the basics to get you started as a professional make-up artist, learning about:
- Facial structures
- Skin tones
- Body painting and contouring
- Eye treatments
- Photographic make-up
- Dressing hair
- Creating an image
You can expect to work with fantastic products and experienced industry-ready staff, and to participate in shows and events including your own photoshoot experiences.
You will be required to obtain a work experience placement as part of your course.

Entry requirements | You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (A*–D), including English Language and Maths – one of English Language or Maths must be grade 9–4 (A*–C). Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (C) or above. |
Assessment | You’ll complete a range of practical assessments and written exams and assignments, to demonstrate your skills as you progress through the course. |
Progression | Choose to follow with further study at Nottingham College on our Level 3 make up course or Level 2 Hair/Beauty. |
