Course outline
The course is perfect if you have previously studied either Dance, Acting, Musical Theatre or Performance, have a strong desire for a career in the arts and want to develop your skills further.
You will learn and develop further skills in your chosen discipline and further your skills in devising and producing theatre through specialist classes and projects during the year.
You’ll visit the theatre both locally and nationally, reviewing performance to get a taste of current industry trends. You will also have visitors from industry sharing their professional experience with you.
You can expect tutors that have a wealth of industry experience and knowledge. You will be given the opportunity to explore different texts, periods and genres of theatre, as well as the opportunity to devise your own pieces. You’ll work with students from other courses to create performance material, giving you the chance to develop effective communication skills and confidence.
Performing arts facilities
- Our performing arts courses boast some of the best facilities of any performing arts degree provider in the country.
- Our 200 capacity theatre built in 2019 is our showpiece but it’s the sprung floor dance studios, rehearsal rooms and intimate performance spaces that enhance our offer to our performing arts students.
Our show season attracts audiences from across the city and beyond and our rolling programme of visits and performance workshops from some of the industry’s most prominent and talented artists means our students get lots of hands-on training and a unique insight into the varying career pathways in performing arts.

Entry requirements | You will need one A level or equivalent Level 3 qualification preferably in a relevant creative subject. You must also have a minimum of a grade 4 (C), or equivalent Level 2 qualification, in both English and maths. You will also need to have two years training in a Performing Arts discipline, for example, Dance or Musical Theatre, this could either be through a full time course, A Level study or at a local Dance/Drama school |
