Course outline
This course is perfect if you want a career in the industry and hold a lower level qualification already, or are already employed and require an industry-recognised qualification to add to your portfolio.
You’ll learn a number of advanced carpentry and joinery techniques and all about carrying out first fix flooring and roofing, building stairwells, organising, planning and pricing work, site health and safety regulations and a range of second fix operations.
You can expect to learn in our state-of-the-art construction centre where tutors will guide you through the different units and build your understanding of the carpentry and joinery industry.

Entry requirements | You’ll need to have completed a Level 2 vocational qualification in a related field and have gained 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (A*–C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grades 9–4 (A*–C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths. For applicants aged 19+, relevant industry experience may be considered. |
Assessment | Assessment is ongoing throughout the course. |
Progression | Choose to follow with further study at college perhaps into a management qualification within the construction sector, or into employment as a carpenter or joiner. |
