SafeGuard donates bullet proof vest to assist students with their training

Our Public Services students are benefiting from new protective armour to use as part of their course, thanks to a generous donation from international tactical body armour and safety equipment distributor, SafeGuard Armour.

The premium body vest, which is used to protect the lives of law enforcement and military operatives, is now giving ncn students practical experience and understanding of how body armour is built, the working mechanics behind the design and structure and how it can be used to minimise injuries on the job.

The donation comes as part of SafeGuard’s commitment to educate the general public on safety and improve the teaching programmes of local and regional colleges. Thomas Bowman, SafeGuard Clothing Communications Manager, comments: “We are pleased to be working with New College Nottingham, and the donation of body armour aims to promote the education of future Public Service recruits. The brand is known for its strong commitment to industry standards and innovative development, and seeks to assist local colleges in the development of courses in a more hands-on manner.

“Such partnerships are greatly beneficial to students as well, as they provide access to an industry leader’s expertise and technology advancement, enriching their learning experience. The use of SafeGuard’s bullet proof vest in ncn’s Public Services course demonstrates the working mechanics behind staying safe in the line of work that involves daily risks.”

ncn Academy Lead for STEM and Public Services, Tony Collins, said: “Our Public Services students are benefiting hugely from this new equipment. We’ve been using it in role play situations to demonstrate the difficulties that members of public services might face when they’re out on duty and it’s providing a fantastic insight into the industry and the realities of the job.

“At ncn we are committed to teaching and preparing our students for real working situations and environments, so to have access to the latest safety equipment which is being used by the experts, is a real advantage for our learners.

“We can’t thank SafeGuard enough for their generosity and commitment to our young people’s futures.”

Public service covers a variety of roles including; paramedics and police officers to environmental and public health officers. If this sounds like something you’d be interested in why not check out our range of courses?
