Last week marked a significant milestone as we celebrated the grand opening of the new premises for the East Midlands Airport Academy and EMA’s Aerozone Academy.

Joined by EMA’s Managing Director Steve Griffiths and Lilian Greenwood, MP for Nottingham South, the event showcased a promising future for aviation education and training in the region.

Previously situated near EMA’s administrative offices, the Academy and Aerozone have now found a new home in premises nearby, and officially opened their doors on Friday 19th April. This relocation reinforces the commitment of the partnership between Nottingham College and East Midlands airport, equipping local individuals with the skills necessary to thrive in the aviation, tourism, and logistics sectors by providing accessible education opportunities.

Our courses launched in December 2023, and since then we have witnessed the successful completion of five cohorts of adult learners, and a high percentage of course graduates have now transitioned into employment within the industry.

Janet Smith, Chief Executive Officer and Principal at Nottingham College, said:

We are thrilled to be part of this partnership with EMA, and the launch of these new premises will further enhance the quality of our joint offering. Nottingham College remains an excellent choice for students seeking direct and relevant career pathways into the local employer market – in this case, our regional aviation and tourism industries.

Steve Griffiths said: We’re really pleased to open new premises for our Aerozone and Academy. It underlines our ongoing commitment to inspire generations of young people through a range of tailored interactive experiences and activities, along with free training courses to equip people with the skills needed to take up various careers available at EMA.”
