Job description

Your future is here

A place to inspire

Being part of Nottingham College means playing a vital part in helping thousands of people reach their potential. Together, we’re making a positive difference to our learners, to our communities and to each other. We’re building better futures, for others and for ourselves. Here, you’ll have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive and the opportunity to shape your career.

What you'll do

Are you passionate about education and empowering students to reach their full potential? If so, we’re looking for you to join our team as an Academic Skills Tutor.

High Pavement Sixth Form is part of Nottingham College which is rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted. It is a city based sixth form campus for full-time 16-19 academic study programmes to over 1000 students in A levels, 14-16 EHE GCSEs and 16-19 FT GCSE.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Academic Skills Tutor to join the high-performing GCSE team at High Pavement. Working closely with GCSE students, you will deliver tailored one-to-one and small-group support sessions designed to develop effective study habits, independent learning skills, and academic confidence. Your work will play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential, with a clear focus on improving academic outcomes and progression opportunities.

This role extends beyond academic support.

Who we're looking for

You will be instrumental in building students' confidence, resilience, and sense of belonging within the High Pavement community. By developing positive relationships and creating a supportive learning environment, you will help foster a culture where students feel valued, motivated, and empowered to succeed. While a specialism in Maths or English would be advantageous, we are primarily looking for someone with a genuine passion for improving the life chances of young people and a commitment to supporting them to achieve their ambitions. In return, you will become part of a dedicated, collaborative, and highly successful GCSE team that is committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for students.

The post will be shortlisted against the essential and desirable criteria at the application stage from the person specification. Please ensure that you use the Job Profile and provide a CV and cover letter. This should be no longer than three sides of A4. Please combine your CV and Cover Letter and upload as a single document while applying for the role.

For further details on this post which the job description and person specification cannot answer for you, please contact Chris Allright (Assistant Head) on chris.allright@nottinghamcollege.ac.uk.

Interviews /Assessments are planned for: 13th/14th July 2026
