Job description

Your future is here
A place to inspire

In a leadership role here at Nottingham College you will play a vital part in helping thousands of people reach their potential. We are Nottingham’s College and together, we make a positive difference to our learners, to our communities and to each other. We’re building better futures, for others and for ourselves. Here you will be at the forefront of curriculum development and innovation, ensuring our learners are equipped with the skills, behaviours and experiences to achieve at college and thrive in life. Here you will have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive and the opportunity to shape your career, whilst leading in a large and vibrant college that puts its learners at the heart of everything it does.

This is an exceptional opportunity to join a leadership team at one of the UK’s largest and most dynamic further education colleges. At the forefront of curriculum innovation, you will shape high-quality provision that equips learners with the skills, confidence and experiences they need to succeed—both at college and beyond. In return, you’ll benefit from the autonomy to lead with creativity, the support to thrive and the platform to further develop your own leadership career.

The City Hub is our flagship campus—home to a diverse and ambitious curriculum including Health & Social Care, Science, Business and Digital, Performing Arts and Media, and Catering, Travel and Tourism. With outstanding commercial facilities, including a theatre, digital media & Esports suites and a student-led restaurant, it offers a vibrant, nurturing and aspirational environment for both students and colleagues.

Who we need

As our City Hub provision continues to grow in student numbers and ambition, we are seeking an additional Assistant Principal to join the leadership team and help shape the continued success of the campus.

Working collaboratively with your fellow Assistant Principal, you will play a key role in driving a cohesive, high-performing campus culture, sharing accountability for outcomes and working collectively to deliver an extraordinary student experience. Together, you will lead with clarity and purpose—aligning priorities, driving innovation and ensuring consistent excellence across all curriculum areas.

As an experienced senior leader, you will hold both strategic vision and operational excellence with confidence. You will bring significant experience within further education, thrive in a complex environment and see challenge as an opportunity to innovate, improve and inspire those around you.

You will be someone who:

  • Brings strong credibility as a senior curriculum leader, with the ability to set a compelling direction and bring others with you
  • Has an unwavering belief in the potential of every student, championing inclusive practice and exceptional student experiences
  • Leads with integrity and empathy, building trust, developing talent and creating a culture where people feel empowered to succeed
  • Uses insight, evidence and professional judgement to drive improvement, make brave decisions and deliver meaningful impact
  • Is outward-facing and future-focused, building partnerships and creating ambitious progression pathways for learners

Above all, you will share our belief in the power of education to unlock potential and will be committed to shaping what extraordinary looks like at Nottingham College.

Who we're looking for

You will bring a strong sense of purpose, professional credibility and a genuine commitment to making a positive and lasting difference.

As an Assistant Principal at the City Hub, you will offer:

  • Proven senior leadership within education, with the ability to lead a complex provision and deliver impactful outcomes
  • A relentless commitment to high standards, ensuring teaching, learning and the wider student experience are ambitious, inclusive and aspirational
  • The ability to inspire, develop and empower others, creating high-performing teams through collaboration, challenge and support
  • Strategic thinking grounded in evidence, using insight and data to inform decisions and drive sustained improvement
  • A future-focused and innovative mindset, shaping curriculum that responds to evolving educational and employer needs
  • Strong personal presence, role modelling professionalism, inclusivity and accountability
  • A highly collaborative approach, working effectively with your fellow Assistant Principal, the Assistant Principal team and wider leadership group to achieve shared goals
