Who we need

Join our flagship City Hub campus in the heart of Nottingham and become an integral part of our Health & Social Care curriculum area, that is shaping the future workforce. As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll play a vital role in supporting to maintain high-quality learning, supporting our students to stay engaged and succeed in a dynamic, industry-focused environment. This is an exciting opportunity to work with passionate educators in a vibrant, inclusive team, where innovation, collaboration and a genuine commitment to student success are at the core of everything we do. Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide classroom cover in the absence of a lecturer, supervising the students to work on pre-set learning activities.
  • Manage behaviour of students to ensure that a constructive learning environment is maintained by using a range of strategies to deal with classroom behaviour as a whole and individual behavioural needs. This will include meeting and communicating with parents as required.
  • Work with lecturing staff to establish an appropriate learning environment which is purposeful, orderly and productive.
  • Support the curriculum team with monitoring and proactively act on attendance issues for cover lessons and those taught within the designated faculty area; liaise with parents/ carers/ guardians where concerns arise around poor attendance.
  • Support the curriculum team with the pastoral support of students within the designated faculty area
  • Attend faculty area meetings and other wider college meetings as required.

What you’ll bring

You will bring experience of working in an educational setting, ideally within further education, in a cover or classroom support role. You’ll naturally build positive, respectful relationships with students and colleagues, creating an inclusive environment where learners feel supported to succeed. Your ability to provide high-quality pastoral support will enable you to navigate sensitive situations with empathy, care and professionalism.

While a Level 5 teaching qualification is desirable, we’re committed to supporting your development—providing the opportunity and guidance for you to achieve a recognised teaching qualification within an agreed timeframe as part of your career progression with us.
