Job description
Your future is here
A place to inspire
Being part of Nottingham College means playing a vital part in helping thousands of people reach their potential. Together, we’re making a positive difference to our learners, to our communities and to each other. We’re building better futures, for others and for ourselves. Here, you’ll have the freedom to work in a way that suits you, the support to thrive and the opportunity to shape your career.
Who we need
Nottingham College is seeking to appoint an experienced and motivated Electrical Skills Trainer to support the delivery of our Level 3 City & Guilds Electrical provision, including technical training, practical skills development and apprenticeship support.
This role will focus on developing apprentices’ and learners’ competence across electrical installation, maintenance, inspection, testing, fault diagnosis, electrical principles and safe working practices. You will work closely with lecturers, assessors, employers and curriculum leaders to ensure learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to progress successfully within the electrotechnical sector.
The successful candidate will support delivery linked to City & Guilds Level 3 Electrical Installation / Electrotechnical qualifications, including apprenticeship routes aligned to the Installation and Maintenance Electrician standard. The role is intended to strengthen practical skills delivery, workplace readiness and progression into skilled employment.
What you’ll bring
You will bring your expertise as a skilled electrical professional into a role where you can genuinely shape the next generation of the industry. Confident in both practical and technical training, you will help learners develop the safe, accurate and professional working practices expected across electrical installation and maintenance. Whether you are demonstrating hands-on techniques, breaking down complex concepts, or supporting learners on their journey to skilled employment, you will create an engaging and supportive learning environment that builds both confidence and competence.
This opportunity is ideal if you are an experienced electrician, electrical maintenance technician, workplace assessor or trainer looking to share your knowledge and inspire others. You’ll work closely with apprentices, employers and colleagues to deliver high-quality training across workshop, classroom and workplace settings, while maintaining strong professional standards and a focus on health and safety. With your industry experience, strong communication skills and commitment to developing others, you’ll play a key role in helping learners achieve full occupational competence—supported by opportunities to gain teaching or assessing qualifications if you don’t already hold them.
