Elective Home Educated GCSE Programme

Course outline

This one-year programme is for students in the equivalent of Years 10 -11 and for those who are ready to undertake a GCSE programme (determined by gaining a grade 3 or above in English and maths online initial assessments administered by the college).

Each GCSE is delivered over 4 hours each week. There is also a mandatory, tutorial lesson included in the programme.

Students can choose from between 1 to 4 subjects from the list below:

  • GCSE English Language
  • GCSE English Literature
  • GCSE Maths
    • Taught lessons are Foundation however support is available for those wishing to do Higher
  • GCSE Business
  • GCSE History
  • GCSE Religious Studies
  • GCSE Sociology
  • GCSE Psychology
  • GCSE Biology
  • GCSE Chemistry
  • GCSE Physics

Students will sit a mock exam in January and GCSEs will be sat in May and June

Students on this programme can also apply for one of our half-day short courses for home educated, students (timetable permitting), and would then only be able to apply for up to 3 GCSE options
