Employability Pathway (SEND) (Level 1) — Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you want to progress to higher level learning or employment and you think you are ready to move onto a Level 1 course.

It will aid the transition between school and college or from Entry 3 programmes and help you adjust to the changes involved.

The programme consists of the study of English, maths, ICT, personal and social development, independent living and employability skills. There is a range of vocational elements that include:

  • Art and design
  • Outdoor pursuits
  • Cookery
  • Enterprise

There is also comprehensive enrichment elements built into the programme and an opportunity for some students to undertake a work experience placement or supported employment.

We will work with you on developing communication and social skills, with strategies to enable progression in your education and personal development. There is a strong element of tutorial support and wellbeing underpinning the course.

Entry requirements

You will need

  • 4 GCSEs at grade 3 to 1/D to G) including English Language and maths
  • A relevant Entry 3 vocational qualification and you will also be asked to undertake an Initial Assessment. The Initial Assessment must show that you are ready to study English and maths at Level 1
Teaching & assessment

You will carry out work to achieve competence in each component of the course. You will be supported to produce a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your skills, experiences and knowledge in each area of the programme. Functional Skills have externally set assessments.
