Course introduction

This 2-week on-site programme provides a direct route for career or study progression within the aviation industry.

It will help to put unemployed or low income learners on the right path to aviation employment.

This qualification is suitable if you are aged 19 and above. It provides an introduction to the aviation industry and aims to give learners the opportunity to progress onto various other qualifications in the travel and tourism sector.

This programme with be growth of our Projects provision as the course will be delivered as part of East Midlands Airport’s Pre-Employment Programme for Adult Learners.

  • Customer Service in Aviation

  • Preparing for Entry to Employment in the Aviation Industry
  • Money, Time and Temperature
  • Write to Communicate

Course information

  • NCFE Level 1 Exploring the Aviation Industry
  • Gateway Level 1 Award in Progression

There are no formal entry requirements but you must:

  • be aged 19+
  • have lived in the UK for a minimum of 3 years
  • be able to show proof of identity
  • be on an income below £20,319 or claiming eligible benefits

You will complete a portfolio of evidence with the help of your tutor.

Successful completion of this qualification will support your progression to:

  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Introduction to Cabin Crew
  • NCFE Level 2 Certificate in Aviation Operations on the Ground (Knowledge)
  • NCFE Level 2 Award for Resort Representatives
  • NCFE Level 2 Award for Preparing to Work in the Cruise and Passenger Shipping Industry
  • NCFE Level 2 Diploma in Customer Service

You could go on to further qualifications in a related area depending on your current skills and interests.

This programme is an ideal place to start to extend your skills, knowledge and confidence.

Both of the above qualifications will be taught together during the 10 days of delivery. Both qualifications make up the programme.
