You will learn: 

  • Introduction to Health and Safety
  • Identifying Hazards - Learn to recognize common hazards in fashion environments, such as those related to sewing equipment, fabric handling, chemicals (e.g., dyes), and cutting tools.
  • Risk Assessment Basics- Gain skills in identifying risks and understanding how to reduce or eliminate them through simple risk assessment processes.
  • Safe Use of Equipment and Materials - Discover safe working practices when using machinery (e.g., sewing machines, irons) and handling materials used in garment production.
  • PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) - Understand the appropriate use of PPE in different fashion tasks to minimize exposure to hazards

Please note: Due to the high demand of these part time courses, if you start a course but can no longer carry on, you will not be eligible for a full course refund. If you enrol on a course and the start date passes, you will not be eligible for a course material fee refund. If you get remitted fees and attend your course for free, if you do not attend the first two sessions without letting the tutor know or without valid reason, you will be withdrawn from the course. NCFE Level 1 Award in Health and Safety Awareness

There are no formal entry requirements but you must be aged 19+.

There are two units with internal assessment.

After completing the this course, you will have built a strong foundation in safe working practices. This qualification supports progression into both further study and entry-level roles in the fashion and textiles sector.
