Sport (NCFE Level 2) — Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you want to embark on a career in the sport, leisure or fitness industry.

This is a practical and theory course that will develop your understanding of the sport, fitness and sports science curriculum.

Examples of units that may be studied include:

  • Participation in sport
  • Anatomy and Physiology
  • Health, exercise and nutrition
  • Plan, deliver and evaluate sports coaching
  • Physical fitness and injury
  • Psychology
  • Performance analysis

Classroom based lessons are held at the Basford Centre and the practical sessions are delivered at community venues. At present, all practical sessions are delivered at Harvey Hadden. We have excellent links with local sports facilities and local professional sports teams to maximise your study opportunities. You’ll get to enjoy learning and playing sport in a fun and friendly environment with experienced coaches and tutors.

Entry requirements

You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 9–3 (A*–D), including English Language and Maths – one of English Language or Maths must be grade 9–4 (A*–C). Functional Skills Level 1 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 3 (D) and Functional Skills Level 2 can be used as equivalent to GCSE grade 4 (C) or above.

Progression

Choose to follow with a Level 3 programme in one of Nottingham College’s exciting sports pathways or you could also apply for one of the many apprenticeships available through Nottingham College. Alternatively you could seek employment within a wide range of roles in the sport, fitness and leisure industry.

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
