Course introduction
This six week course is perfect if you are a beginner and have an interest in learning new textile skills or if you would like to refresh your textile skills.
It will introduce you to textiles and you will learn the basics of a domestic sewing machine and be
able to explore and experiment with a range of techniques such as:
- Patch work
- Quilting
- Applique
- Machine embroidery
You will also gain experience in basic pattern cutting and sewing skills. A range of materials will be provided to you throughout these sessions.
Throughout the six weeks you will put together a sketchbook/ file compiling samples and experiments from the week’s workshops. By the end of the course, you will have produced your own range of samples and constructed a functioning product.
You can expect a friendly and inclusive atmosphere, excellent tutor teaching, new knowledge and skills in sewing and opportunities to develop your creativity.
Please note: Due to the high demand of these part time courses, if you start a course but can no longer carry on, you will not be eligible for a full course refund. If you enrol on a course and the start date passes, you will not be eligible for a course material fee refund. If you get remitted fees and attend your course for free, if you do not attend the first two sessions without letting the tutor know or without valid reason, you will be withdrawn from the course. Many thanks for your understanding.
