Course outline
You’ll learn practical, work-related skills and by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands, you will learn about the business world.
You can expect to become fully prepared for the business world, by learning key industry skills from experienced tutors.
There are 13 units and you will study:
- Exploring Business
- Developing a Marketing Campaign
- Personal and Business Finance
- Managing an Event
- International Business
- Principles of Management
- Business Decision Making
Aged 19 or over?
If you don't already hold a Level 3 qualification (equivalent to at least two A Levels, or a Level 3 vocational qualification), you may be able to study this course fully funded!
The Government’s new National Skills Fund programme has created new opportunities for adults, aged 19 and over, to access fully funded full-time learning.

Entry requirements | You’ll need 5 GCSEs at grades 9–4 (A*–C), including English Language and Maths – both of these must be grades 9–4 (A*–C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, or a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification with English and Maths GCSE grades 9–4 (A*–C). |
Teaching & assessment | There are a total of 13 units of which 7 are mandatory and 4 that are externally assessed. Mandatory content is 66% and external assessment is 42%. |
Progression | The Extended Diploma is a two-year, full-time course that meets entry requirements in its own right for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in business areas before entering employment. It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or business management and Higher Apprenticeships in the business sector. |
