Course introduction

It is no longer possible to apply/enrol for this course as there are no course dates available. Please check back later as we may be offering it again in the future.

This 10-week creative beadwork course invites you to explore texture, colour, and design as you learn a wide range of techniques, from bead weaving and embroidery to wirework, loom beading, and mixed-media creations.

Over the course you will recap the basic bead stringing, beading stitches and compilation of traditional to contemporary designs. Guided step by step, you’ll build confidence with both traditional and contemporary methods while developing your own personal style. Each session offers plenty of hands-on making time, inspiring examples, and expert tips to help you turn simple materials into stunning jewellery, accessories, or decorative art pieces.

A practical course where you will be able to apply basic beading knowledge to create individual bespoke pieces of jewellery and home accessories. The main theme throughout will be sustainability. You will be encouraged to upcycle and recycle materials to make creations.

You should attend regularly and arrive on time to make best progress on course.

You will complete a short diary weekly in class time, to record your progress and receive written tutor feedback.

You will use Microsoft Teams whilst on the course. Microsoft Teams is a free, safe online app used by Nottingham College for tutors to contact students.

Using Teams will also enable you to develop and feel confident using digital skills.

For more information on using Microsoft Teams and the induction process, please visit our Induction Information for Community Students page.
