Course introduction
This course is perfect if would like to develop your skills on a two-day long programme in creating thrown ceramics on the wheel. This class is targeted at students that are new to throwing or have joined us for a throwing class before.
Throughout the day you will learn a variety of techniques and processes in throwing.
You will learn the process of creating your own hand thrown wares, selecting a few pieces to keep for day two.
On the second day of the programme, you will have the opportunity to turn your thrown work from the day before. Finishing of the pieces on the wheel before using some slips to add decoration.
Your tutor will then glaze these once fired with a clear glaze for you, and you will be able to arrange a later date to collect these once finished and fired.
Course information
2 days
There are no entry requirements but you must be aged 19+.
You may also like to join us for other available courses during the week of our Adult Summer Arts Programme. These include: Beadwork, Printmaking, Life Drawing, Life Painting with oils, Sketch booking, Ceramics Throwing and Turning , Mixed Media and Gelli Printing and Model Making.
You can also progress onto our part-time adult classes in art and design in 2026/2027.
Please be advised you will not be able to keep everything you make on this course due to kiln space and that kiln firing times will be less frequent over summer, so you may have to wait a few weeks before being able to collect your work.
Please make sure you are dressed appropriately as some art and design classes may get messy. You may want to bring an overshirt or apron to protect your clothes.
You may also want to bring with you some drawing or writing equipment as you may need this throughout the day.
