Nottingham College supports more than 21,000 students, from a variety of different backgrounds across the city and surrounding areas. We place equity, diversity, inclusion, student safety and wellbeing at the heart of everything we do.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Our approach to Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is grounded in fairness, respect and a sense of belonging. We are committed to creating an environment where students, staff and stakeholders feel valued and heard - a place where everyone can thrive and achieve their full potential. We are proud to have a dedicated network of student support colleagues who are here to help every step of the way.

Safeguarding

Our child-centred safeguarding approach is delivered by a highly skilled Safeguarding and Behaviour team, alongside dedicated Wellbeing Mentors who help students with any concerns that may impact their wellbeing or learning. Our specialist Inclusion team ensures every young person can access the support they need to succeed - from neurodiversity specialists and deaf support colleagues to dedicated staff for looked-after children.

Enrichment

Enrichment clubs and societies

Beyond the classroom, our Enrichment and Student Voice team plays a vital role in helping students build confidence, develop new skills, and form meaningful connections. Through a wide range of activities and opportunities, they ensure students feel a sense of belonging and empowered to make their voices heard within our college community.

As part of our ongoing commitment to EDI, we recognise and celebrate a number of EDI national and international awareness campaigns throughout the year. We also update our college EDI calendar annually to ensure we are highlighting the key events and observations that really matter to our college community.

How you can get involved

As a student, staff member or stakeholder, there are many ways to get involved in our EDI work. You could join our staff EDI committee, become a Student Union representative, take part in a Café Connections group, or put forward ideas and initiatives. Every contribution makes a difference.
