Nottingham College has the highest student satisfaction rates of colleges in the East Midlands (2018/19 National Student Survey). Located in the vibrant city of Nottingham, with its thriving arts and cultural scene, student-orientated nightlife and multicultural atmosphere — we have a diverse mix of students and a growing portfolio of higher education and professional courses.
The calibre of our higher education (HE) provision has been recognised by Nottingham Trent University and the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA). Nottingham College offers flexible ways of learning on a full or part-time basis with a vocational focus.
93% of graduates were in employment or further study six months after completing their course (Destination of Leavers from ncn Higher Education Survey 2014/15). We place a heavy emphasis on the vocational relevance of our courses and in preparing students for the workplace.
We offer a cost-effective solution to studying higher education.
Our HE students particularly appreciate our smaller lecture groups and the regular one-to-one contact they have with tutors. We have dedicated and supportive teaching staff, with good industry contacts and support networks.
Nottingham is a fantastic city in which to study, with excellent transport links and a student-friendly environment. Its locality offers easy access using good rail and road links.
We welcome applications from people of all ages, including mature learners who have no formal qualifications but with relevant industry experience. If you’re unsure about your existing qualifications, please contact our HE team.
It's all about your career
Our aim is to make sure that you leave us with a valuable university-level or professional qualification, and are ready to move into your chosen area of employment or improve your job prospects.
Our HE courses combine the right mix of academic study and vocational experience. We have worked in partnership with various organisations from Disney World® to Capital FM to Nottingham Playhouse, to ensure our programmes reflect the realities of the workplace and our facilities remain relevant and up to date. Many of our programmes have been designed with employer input and incorporate work placements and live briefs with local employers. Our tutors have a wealth of industry experience and contacts. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to get involved with national competitions such as WorldSkills and events relevant to your area such as New Designers, and Sound City. This vocational approach ensures you develop the skills and experience that are both relevant and sought after in the workplace.
We positively encourage and celebrate our students’ success in their enterprising ideas. You’ll receive plenty of support and advice to develop your ideas; many of our students move on to set up their own successful businesses from initiatives developed during their studies.
In addition to strong vocational skills, we also recognise the importance of personal development and ‘soft’ skills, such as communication, team work and problem-solving. We’ve got plenty of opportunities for you to get involved in a wide range of activities including volunteering, internships, work placements and study exchange programmes. Our ACES (Academic Coaching and Employability Skills) team can also provide support for employability skills and personal development planning.
We have a comprehensive Matrix accredited careers and student advisory service to help you make the right choices for your career development. We offer one-to-one career planning sessions, alongside group activities geared towards the development of employability skills.
