Exciting new developments at Basford!

Launching ZERO, our sustainability pledge

Nottingham has serious sustainability ambitions for the city and as a college we share these ambitions. As a large employer, occupying a sizeable estate, we must set an example for responsible environmental management and we have a duty to raise environmental awareness among our staff and learners.

Our staff and students recently came together for a sponsored enrichment walk to raise funds for Maggie’s Centre. ♥️ Maggie's Centres are a network of drop-in centres providing free practical, emotional, and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends in the UK and abroad.

The walk covered 40,000 steps and included visits to most of our sites, starting at Stapleford and concluding at Basford. Along the way, they visited Highfields, London Road, City Hub, Adams Building, High Pavement, the sports grounds in West Bridgford, and the Maggie's Centre at the City Hospital.

“18 miles might sound daunting, but seeing the determination in the faces of my colleagues, our enthusiastic students, and everyone else participating for Maggie's, truly fueled our team spirit. We pushed each other on, shared laughs along the way, and crossed that finish line together – a fantastic accomplishment for a great cause!” – Leanne Anderson, Student Enrichment Lead at Nottingham College

This week, we hosted a successful What Next event at our City Hub campus. We were thrilled to welcome local secondary students and their teachers. The event aimed to help students explore their career options and study routes.

Throughout the day, students participated in engaging workshops with our curriculum staff and gained hands-on experience in areas such as media, performing arts, catering, and science. This event provided young people with the opportunity to try new things they may not have considered before.

The End Of Year Shows were a massive success. Our students did an incredible job showcasing their final projects and really wowed the audience. The dazzling fashion show, with Nottingham's St. Mary's Gate Church as its backdrop, was a particular highlight! Our students' talent truly shined, and we're so proud of everything they've accomplished. 🙌

A big thank you to everyone who played a part in making these shows such a huge success!✨
