Exciting new developments at Basford!

At our Basford campus we have some exciting new developments going on! We are building two new facilities, our Construction Skills Centre and Centre for Supported Learning.

These two new facilities are being built at the same time, so there’s going to be lots of activity happening at Basford. To keep you up to date and provide the latest news and information on the developments, we’ve created our Basford campus developments page. We have a live camera that is capturing the progress of the construction of the two buildings from start to finish and we release monthly timelapse videos on the 1st of every month, which provides all the progress for the previous month! Keep checking back for more updates.

Timelapse videos

Every month we’ll be publishing timelapse video so you can view the progress of the construction work. These timelapse videos are all compiled from the images captured from our live camera.

A badge will be displayed when the camera is live or not. The latest image is fetched and displayed on this web page.

Where are the new buildings going?

With an exterior camera situated on the roof at the back of our Basford campus, we have great line of sight to the two development sites for the new buildings. At Basford there's quite a lot of land space, so we've created a Google Map and plotted the main development area and each of the build sites.

Our new Construction Skills Centre

In September 2024, a new Construction Skills Centre is set to be completed at the college’s Basford campus, already home to the region’s largest construction training facility.

The college will itself invest £1.2 million to develop the centre, creating capacity for more 16 – 18-year-olds to access construction training within the city.

Our Centre for Supported Learning

The new centre will be built within the college’s Basford site, itself the beneficiary of a Government grant, back in 2014. This latest grant, totalling just shy of £4 million, represents a significant investment in Further Education for those with special educational needs.

The new Grade A, purpose-built Centre will be energy efficient and offer the latest in specialist teaching and learning resources for SEND education. The centre is set to be completed towards the end of October 2024.
