News: Nottingham College once again named a ‘College of Excellence’ by Ragdale Hall
Nottingham College has again been named a ‘College of Excellence’ by Ragdale Hall, a luxury spa that is regularly regarded as being one of the best in the UK.
The ‘College of Excellence’ award recognises providers that deliver hair and beauty courses to a consistently high standard, helping students to gain the qualifications and industry experience they need to pursue successful future careers.
As a recipient of the award, Nottingham College students will have the opportunity to attend exclusive careers events such as open evenings and treatment demonstrations as well as have the chance to apply for prestigious work placement opportunities with Ragdale Hall.
Holly Bowen, who completed her Level 2 and 3 Beauty Therapy with us in June last year now works as a Beauty Therapist at Ragdale Hall. She tells us why she chose Nottingham College and how her course prepared her for her future career.
“I chose to study at Nottingham College as I knew it would be the best place for me to gain the skills I’d need to succeed in my chosen career. I love everything to do with skincare and my favourite thing about my course was being taught how to perform facial treatments with specialist electrical machines.
My tutors were extremely committed and would go above and beyond to support us as students to ensure that we achieved our goals.

Holly explains how, even before she started her course, her goal was to work at Ragdale Hall and the fact the college has repeatedly been awarded a ‘College of Excellence’ helped her to achieve this.
“Before I started my course I knew my end goal once trained was to work at Ragdale Hall Spa. As Nottingham College are one of Ragdale Hall Spa’s Colleges of Excellence, this meant the training I received would give me the skills and qualifications to be able to apply for a job there.”
Since finishing her course, Holly has achieved her goal but is continuing to learn new skills and continue her training further.
“I am now working at Ragdale Hall Spa, performing level 2 and level 3 treatments using a variety of different products including Clarins, Elemis, OPI and Spa Find. I will also soon be progressing onto a 2‑year training programme which during this time will enable me to be trained in many specialised treatments.“
Hair and Beauty lecturer, Rebecca Elkin spoke on how important it is for the college to have won the award.
“This award is a proud moment for the beauty department at Nottingham College and it recognises the long relationship we have developed with Ragdale Hall. It also gives us the opportunity to work with industry specialists to support the development of courses and provide opportunities for learners to complete work experience at Ragdale”
