Course outline

This course is a great choice if you are ready to start your career in the beauty industry and have a passion for making people feel pampered and good about themselves.

It is ideal for anyone want to add gel polish treatment their manicure and pedicure treatments, or looking to start their journey in hand and nail treatments.

You will learn:

  • Communication and consultation techniques
  • Contra-indications to gel polish treatment
  • Health, safety and hygiene
  • Nail preparation
  • Completing a gel polish application
  • Removing gel polish to ensure no damage to the natural nail
  • Homecare and aftercare

You can expect a dedicated team of lecturers who still work in the industry, so have up to date skills and experience.

This course will be a hands-on learning experience to ensure you get a solid grounding in the main application of a gel polish, using high quality products.

Entry requirements

You must have:

  • Good communication skills
  • A keen interest in nail treatments
  • Good dexterity (hand/ eye coordination)
  • An informal chat with tutor
Teaching & assessment

Practical skills will be assessed when carrying out gel polish on a model and completion of an end of unit test which will be graded pass or refer.

You will also undertake a multiple choice end of unit test.
Progression

Other short courses such as spray tanning, lash lifting or brow definition.

There is an additional kit cost of approximately £140 for this course.
