Course introduction

This course is a great choice if you are ready to start your career in the beauty industry and have a passion for making people feel pampered and good about themselves.

It is ideal for anyone want to add gel polish treatment their manicure and pedicure treatments, or looking to start their journey in hand and nail treatments.

You will learn:

  • Communication and consultation techniques
  • Contra-indications to gel polish treatment
  • Health, safety and hygiene
  • Nail preparation
  • Completing a gel polish application
  • Removing gel polish to ensure no damage to the natural nail
  • Homecare and aftercare

You can expect a dedicated team of lecturers who still work in the industry, so have up to date skills and experience. This course will be a hands-on learning experience to ensure you get a solid grounding in the main application of a gel polish, using high quality products.

Practical skills will be assessed when carrying out gel polish on a model and completion of an end of unit test which will be graded pass or refer. (Please note you need to provide your own model).

Course information

College Certificate accredited though ABT.

You must have:

  • Good communication skills
  • A keen interest in nail treatments
  • Good dexterity (hand/ eye coordination)
  • An informal chat with tutor
  • Completion of a full gel polish
  • Multiple choice end of unit test

Other short courses such as spray tanning, lash lifting or brow definition.

Please note you may be asked to provide your own model.

Please ensure that you are wearing all black e.g. black trousers or leggings and plain black t-shirt or tunic

You may be required to purchase a kit to complete this course. Information will be provided on application.
