Key areas of focus include different types of allergens, distinctions between allergies and intolerances, food labelling and packaging regulations, methods for recognizing allergic reactions, strategies for minimizing risks, and approaches to providing first aid, among other relevant subjects.
You will learn:
Unit 1: Understanding Allergens, Allergies, and Intolerances
This unit provides foundational knowledge about allergies, allergens, and intolerances, as well as insights into the methods of diagnosis and treatment for these conditions.
Unit 2: Food Labeling and Packaging
This unit focuses on interpreting various types of food labels and emphasizes the importance of accurate label reading in ensuring the safety of individuals with allergies. Participants will explore the regulations governing food labeling and acquire skills to identify incorrect labels.
Unit 3: Allergy Awareness for Professionals Working with Children
This unit offers essential information on allergen awareness tailored for individuals working with children. Participants will learn to recognize signs and symptoms of allergic reactions affecting different parts of the body and how to administer first aid in cases of severe reactions. Additionally, strategies for minimizing the risk of allergic reactions, such as avoidance, proper food preparation, and the use of medical ID jewellery, will be discussed.

TQUK Level 2 Certificate in Allergy Awareness for those Working with Children
There are no formal entry requirements, but you must be aged 19+.
Please note: All students will need to complete an Initial Assessment before being enrolled onto the course
The course evaluation is conducted through internally developed and graded assessments across various subjects. All participants will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding throughout the duration of the course.
To achieve a pass grade, all learning outcomes and assessment criteria must be satisfactorily met.
