Beauty Therapy (Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma) — Full-time

Course outline

This course is perfect if you are looking to pursue a career in a specialist environment such as in a day spa, on a cruise liner, or in a dedicated facility in a high-end hotel. This course provides a great foundation for a career in spa management too.

You’ll learn a range of advanced beauty techniques, such as:

  • Body massage
  • Hot stone massage
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Facial and body electrical treatments.

You’ll also cover:

  • Client care
  • Consultation
  • Health and safety
  • A range of products and services

You can expect a timetable of both practical and theory-based lessons with lecturers who are experienced in the industry. You will practise a range of treatments and will spend time in our commercial salon to develop your skills in working with customers. You’ll work with recognised product brands such as Dermalogica and Spa Find. As part of your course, you will also be required to obtain work experience.

Entry requirements

You’ll need to have completed a relevant Level 2 vocational qualification in a related field and have achieved English and Maths at grade 9–4 (A*–C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.

All students must undertake and pass a practical dexterity test prior to enrolment to ensure you are suitable for this course.

If you are a progressing student, you must have achieved 90% attendance and passed a relevant Level 2 course. Please speak to your tutor regarding your progression options.

Teaching & assessment

You will be assessed through practical observations, assignments, portfolio, and theory-based units and tests.

Progression

Choose to follow with follow with further study, perhaps going onto a degree in hospitality or service management or into employment within a spa setting, to further develop your skills and experience with customers and with a broad range of products.

Additional information

You will be required to purchase a kit and uniform. Costs will be discussed at interview.

Students aged 16-18 don't have to pay tuition fees.
