Course introduction

This course is perfect if you are interested in developing practical sewing and textile skills within a creative and supportive environment. This course is ideal for beginners or those looking to build confidence in creative craft techniques while exploring fashion, textiles, and handmade design. Whether you enjoy making, designing, or working with fabrics and materials, the course will help you develop your creativity and practical skills while preparing for further study or progression into creative pathways.

You will learn the fundamentals of sewing and creative craft techniques, including hand and machine sewing, fabric manipulation, pattern cutting basics, and textile decoration methods. The course will also introduce you to design development, creative problem-solving, and how to plan and produce finished craft and textile projects. Throughout the programme, you will build confidence in using tools, materials, and processes safely and effectively within a studio environment.

Through practical workshops, creative projects, and support from experienced tutors, you will develop hands-on skills and build confidence in your creative abilities. The course encourages experimentation, independent thinking, and the development of your own creative style while working on a range of sewing and textile-based projects. You can expect a friendly and engaging learning environment that supports progression into further study, creative hobbies, or introductory pathways into the fashion, textiles, and craft industries.
