This course is ideal for beginners who enjoy hands-on creative work and want to develop skills in textile design, surface decoration, and fabric-based crafts. Whether you are interested in fashion, interiors, embroidery, or creative arts, the course will help you build confidence, creativity, and practical studio skills. 

You will learn the fundamentals of textile techniques and creative processes, including fabric manipulation, print and surface decoration, embroidery, mixed media techniques, and design development. The course will introduce you to working with a variety of materials, tools, and processes while encouraging experimentation and creative exploration. You will also develop skills in researching ideas, planning projects, and presenting your creative outcomes professionally. 

Through practical workshops, creative studio sessions, and support from experienced tutors, you will develop hands-on textile skills and build confidence in your creative practice. Course information

NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft

You must have achieved English or Maths at Grade 3 or above (or equivalent) and be aged 19+.

Assessment methods include: 

  • Knowledge checks and tasks
  • Practical or scenario-based activities (where appropriate) 

There are: 

  • No formal exams
  • No timed tests 

Assessment is portfolio-based, allowing learners to demonstrate their knowledge and understanding as they progress through the course. Support and guidance are provided throughout to help learners successfully complete each unit.
