Course introduction

This course is perfect if you are wanting to refresh your current knowledge in colouring and learn new skills about colour correction.

During the course, you will learn: 

  • Communication and consultation techniques
  • Contra-indications
  • Health, safety and hygiene
  • Preparation
  • Completing a colour correction service
  • Home and after care 

You can expect a dedicated team of lecturers who still work in the industry, so have up to date skills and experience. 

This will be a hands-on learning experience to ensure you get a solid grounding in the main colour correction techniques, using high quality products. 

Practical skills will be assessed when carrying out the service on a client, and your knowledge will also be tested with a multiple-choice exam.

This qualification will also help you improve communication and customer service skills, awareness of environmental sustainability and commercial skills, all of which are valued in the industry.

You must have:

  • A level 2 colour qualification as a minimum
  • A keen interest in subject area
  • Good dexterity
  • An informal chat with tutor

Assessment is by practical assessment and multiple-choice test.

After completing this course, progression into further study could include other courses such as straightening and smoothing, and Afro Caribbean care and styling, will further develop your skills and experience with a broad range of products.

Please note you need to provide your own model to complete a colour correction service for assessment. 

Please ensure that you are wearing all black e.g. black trousers or leggings and a plain black t-shirt or tunic.
