Course introduction

Over 90% of menopausal women in the UK report experiencing symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, and low mood. However, discussions surrounding menopause remain limited by societal taboos. These symptoms can significantly affect quality of life and overall well-being, in addition to potentially impacting personal relationships and professional environments. Remarkably, approximately 10% of women have reported leaving their jobs directly due to the challenges associated with menopause.

In this section, learners will be introduced to the different stages of the menopause, as well as the physical, psychological and emotional symptoms. Learners will also explore the impact the menopause can have on an individual, and some of the myths and perceptions surrounding the menopause.

Section 2: The why - Understand why awareness is important:

In Section 2, learners will explore why awareness of the menopause is important, as well as the menopause within the LGBTQ+ community and in the workplace, and how the menopause is portrayed in the media.
