Course outline
This course is perfect if you have a good eye for detail, have good coordination and enjoy physical work. There’s nothing more satisfying than seeing a well plastered wall and knowing that you did it!
You’ll learn about plastering for both businesses and housing and understanding how to work safely.
You’ll learn:
- How to prepare walls
- How to mix and prepare plastering materials
- Precision cutting of plasterboard
- The fine art of plastering application
You can expect to finish the course with a good foundation of skills to enable you to carry out a range of plastering techniques. You’ll study in dedicated workshop spaces and complete a range of practical assessments.

Entry requirements | You’ll need 4 GCSEs at grades 3–1 (D–G), including English Language and Maths at grade 3–1 (D–G), or a relevant Entry 3 vocational qualification. With this you will be asked to sit an initial assessment and this must show that you are ready to study English and Maths at Level 1. If your results are lower than this, don't worry, we'll find the right course for you. |
Teaching & assessment | You will be assessed by completing a multiple choice paper and practical assessment. |
Progression | Choose to follow with further study at college on a Level 2 programme either in plastering or another trade, or onto an apprenticeship. |
