Course introduction
Our Level 2 Safeguarding Training Course is designed for both individuals seeking to enhance their skills and employers aiming to provide their staff with essential training in safeguarding.
This course covers critical topics, including the recognition and prevention of radicalisation and extremism, the principles of safeguarding, the Prevent Duty and its significance in our society, as well as the importance of online safety and British values. By gaining a Level 2 understanding of safeguarding and prevention, participants can significantly contribute to improving broader safeguarding practices within the workplace.
Unit 1: Principles of Safeguarding
Understand the definition of safeguarding within both national and local contexts, focusing on the protection from abuse. Gain insight into different types of abuse and the duty of care that underpins safeguarding practices for children, young people, and adults. Acquire skills necessary to respond appropriately to disclosures of abuse and outline the necessary steps to take when such a disclosure occurs.
Unit 2: The Importance of British Values
Examine the principles of British Values and understand the relevant legislation related to human rights and counterterrorism. Clarify the concept of liberty, while also analysing the impacts of terrorism, extremism, and radicalization. Understand how the prevent duty supports the promotion of British values.
Unit 3: The Prevent Duty and Its Significance in Society
Define the concepts of 'prevent' and 'CONTEST' while developing a comprehensive understanding of the threat posed by terrorism. Learn essential principles related to duty and safeguarding, particularly focusing on factors that may render an individual vulnerable to radicalization. Understand the appropriate actions, including reporting procedures, to be taken if concerns arise regarding a vulnerable individual or group at risk of radicalization.
Unit 4: The Importance of Online Safety
Explore the constructive uses of internet activity along with the distinctions between the surface web, deep web, and dark web. Enhance your ability to identify individuals who may be vulnerable online and recognize the risks associated with negative online behaviour. Learn to identify signs indicating inappropriate internet use, as well as how to support individuals in modifying their online behaviour.

Duration: You will study this course at your own pace, but it must be completed within 12 weeks. You will receive an automated email reminding you of when you need to complete your assignment.

Understanding Safeguarding, Prevent and British Values (TQUK Level 2 Certificate)
There are no formal entry requirements, but you must be aged 19+.
Please note: All students will need to complete an Initial Assessment before being enrolled onto the course.
The course evaluation is conducted through internally developed and graded assessments across various subjects. All participants will be assessed on their knowledge and understanding throughout the duration of the course.
To achieve a pass grade, all learning outcomes and assessment criteria must be satisfactorily met.
You may complete this qualification in preparation to apply and work in this industry or to to enhance their understanding of their work environment. Alternatively, you may wish to progress in the subject to a higher level.
