Automotive at Nottingham College has a long heritage, dating back to 1965 when the provision was originally delivered through Peoples College. Following several college mergers, the department is now based at our Highfields Campus as part of Nottingham College.

Our team brings well over 80 years of combined teaching experience and more than a century of automotive industry expertise, ensuring students benefit from strong technical knowledge and real-world insight.

We deliver over 10 automotive courses, supporting learners at multiple stages of their journey. This includes pre-16 programmes for school groups, Level 1 and Level 2 Maintenance and Repair courses for post-16 learners and adults, and advanced Level 3 specialist qualifications including Diagnostics, ADAS, Air Conditioning and Electric Vehicle technologies.

Students train in a modern, industry-standard workshop equipped with 20 vehicle lifts and professional tooling, including equipment from Snap-on, Halfords and DeWalt. Practical training is combined with classroom-based theory sessions to ensure learners develop both the technical and diagnostic skills required by the modern automotive industry.
