As a parent, helping your child navigate their post-16 education options can be challenging. One exciting and innovative choice is T Levels, which are available at Nottingham College with some brand new courses launching in September 2024!

T Levels are designed to provide a balanced mix of classroom learning and practical experience, preparing students for skilled employment, further study, or apprenticeships. Here’s everything you need to know about T Levels and why they might be the perfect fit for your child.

What Are T Levels?

T Levels, or Technical Levels, are new two-year courses designed to follow GCSEs and are equivalent to A Levels. They offer a combination of classroom learning and on-the-job experience through industry placements. T Levels have been developed in collaboration with employers to ensure students gain the skills and knowledge that businesses need.

1. Industry-Relevant Curriculum

T Levels cover a range of sectors, including digital, construction, health, and early years education. The curriculum is developed in partnership with employers, ensuring that students learn the skills that are in demand in the workforce.

2. Extensive Industry Placements

A significant component of T Levels is the industry placement, which lasts at least 45 days. This hands-on experience allows students to apply what they’ve learned in a real-world setting, making them more employable and giving them a head start in their chosen career. For example our T level health academy has extensive links with the NHS for T level placements which gives the students incredible work placements.

3. Equivalent to A-Levels

T Levels provide the same UCAS points as three A Levels, making them an excellent option for students who wish to progress to higher education. Many universities recognise T Levels* for admission, giving students flexibility in their future educational and career choices.

*If your child has a particular university or course in mind, we’d advise checking their entry requirements and admissions process prior to applying.

4. Comprehensive Support and Guidance

Nottingham College offers robust support to T Level students, including career advice, academic support, careers advice and support with university and apprenticeship applications. Our dedicated team ensures that students are well-prepared for their placements and future careers.
