On the 17th July 2026, the Enrichment Team took on their annual Big Walk Challenge to raise vital funds for our Student Choice Charity of the Year, Harmless.
After having to reschedule a few weeks back due to the summer heatwave, the cooler weather last week provided the perfect conditions for the trek.
Setting off from our EMTEC Ruddington campus at 9:20 am, a total of 21 walkers - 14 staff members and 7 students from across various campuses and departments came together for the 27km route. It was a fantastic opportunity for colleagues and students to connect, many meeting for the very first time as they clocked up a massive 40,000 steps together.
The route took the team to every single Nottingham College campus, including stops at our sports grounds along the way. A highlight of the journey was stopping at Harmless HQ, situated just two miles from the end of the route, where the team kindly welcomed the walkers with well-earned refreshments and shared insights into the invaluable mental health and self-harm support work they do across our community. The trek officially wrapped up as the group crossed the finish line at our Basford campus around 5:00 pm.
