Nottingham College welcomed employer partners from across the region to its second annual End of Year Industry Advisory Board Celebration, an event dedicated to recognising and celebrating the valuable contributions made by businesses throughout the academic year.
The celebration brought together representatives from a wide range of organisations who have supported the college through its Industry Advisory Boards and Partnerships. Over the past year, these partners have shared industry expertise, provided sector insights and helped shape curriculum development, ensuring students gain the skills, knowledge and experiences needed to succeed in the workplace.
The event was an opportunity to reflect on another successful year of collaboration between Nottingham College and industry, while also thanking employers for their continued support and commitment.
Hosted at the college's flagship City Hub campus in Fletchers Restaurant, the event provided the chance for partners, college leaders and staff to come together, celebrate achievements from across the year and experience the college facilities first hand.
The need for strong meaningful partnerships has never been greater. Skills demands are changing and it’s only through continued collaboration, that we as a college can keep pace with that. With your help our city and our region can remain competitive and resilient.
Nottingham College can be a broker of effective partnerships, bringing together business and communities to create opportunities that benefit everyone.

The End of Year Industry Advisory Board Celebration has quickly become an important date in the college calendar, bringing together partners to celebrate a year of successful collaboration and recognise the positive impact these relationships have on students and the wider college community. This year's event also provided the platform for Chery Group, to discuss with our employer network the importance of strengthening links with education and creating new opportunities for students to engage with leading employers.
Working in partnership with the fantastic team here at Nottingham College, we have been able to establish a professional technical training base with the facilities, experience and educational standards needed to support our UK dealer network.
The future of our partnership is more than just working in classrooms and the amount of courses we deliver. It’s about providing an industry leading training academy, supporting dealers with the skills they need today and delivering the people who will represent our brands tomorrow.
Luke Garratt, UK Technical Training Manager at Chery Group
A highlight of the afternoon was a panel discussion featuring Jonathan Price (City & Guilds), Richard Blackmore (East Midlands Chamber), Katrina Pierce (Federation of Small Business) and Maxine Blake (Nottingham College, who explored how colleges and employers can work together to bridge the gap between education and industry. The conversation covered topics including skills development, emerging workforce needs and the role employers can play in helping to prepare young people for successful careers. Attendees then heard reflections from the panellists, who shared their own experiences of partnership working and the value of collaborating with education providers to help develop future talent.
A huge thank you to all the businesses and organisations that have supported Nottingham College this year. Your expertise, advice and ongoing commitment help ensure our students are equipped with the skills and experiences they need to thrive in their future careers.
As another academic year comes to a close, Nottingham College looks forward to building on these successful partnerships and continuing to work alongside employers to shape the workforce of the future.
