We're pleased to announce we achieved an Outstanding Ofsted rating across all areas of our residential Apprenticeship provision at Ruddington Campus.

The inspection, which took place in September 2026, focused on our residential provision for apprenticeship learners attending training at our Ruddington campus. Inspectors assessed the overall experiences and progress of young people, how effectively they are supported and protected, and the effectiveness of leadership and management.

More than 400 apprentices from across the UK benefit from the college's residential provision while completing training at our renowned Apprenticeship and Automotive Training Centre, as well as our Engineering and Electrical facilities at Ruddington campus.

Ofsted rated the college's residential provision Outstanding across all areas, praising the "excellent" communication between staff and stakeholders and the "high standard of individual care and support" provided to students. Inspectors highlighted the culture of acceptance and inclusivity that helps young people feel safe, supported and able to thrive, while noting that students benefit from a unique programme that prepares them for future employment. Importantly, the inspection made no recommendations for improvement.

The report recognised several areas of exceptional practice, reinforcing the college's commitment to providing an outstanding experience for apprentices from across the UK.

Janet Smith, our CEO and Principal at Nottingham College, said:

"Achieving Outstanding judgements across all areas is a fantastic endorsement of the high-quality support and opportunities we provide for our apprentices in our residential provision. We are incredibly proud of the inclusive and nurturing environment our teams have created, helping young people to develop and succeed. To receive no recommendations for improvement is a remarkable achievement and one that everyone involved should be proud of."

Lindsey Smith, Assistant Principal at Nottingham College’s Ruddington campus, said:

“We are so pleased that Ofsted has recognised the quality of our residential provision at Ruddington campus. This outcome reflects the dedication of our staff, apprentices and employers, along with our commitment to providing a safe, supportive and positive environment where learners can thrive.

"Our residential provision enables apprentices from across the UK to access industry-leading training at Nottingham College.
