Congratulations to Ollie Goddard, one of our Level 2 Barbering students, who recently competed in Malta in the IBF World Blackpool Championships. He was representing England in the Under 18s category and brought home a silver and gold medal!
Ollie started playing Pool at eight years old after playing against family and friends at a local bowling alley. After discovering his passion for the sport, he joined a club and started playing for the county.
Ollie travelled to Malta for the finals and competed in the singles, doubles and team event. He came back as the World Champions in the team event, receiving a gold medal, and came World champion runner up in the single event, where he received a silver medal.
We caught up with Ollie to speak about his successes, he said:
It was the proudest moment you could ever think of and the best experience I’ve ever had within pool. It’s been my dream to be world champion and now I have achieved it so I’m buzzing!

Ollie’s classmates, tutors and the wider college are incredibly proud of him and showed their support to him by getting him chocolates, a balloon and card. We spoke with his tutor, Beverly Nita, who said:
Ollie is a really conscientious worker and the amount of work it takes to get a gold medal; he would understand that with the amount of dedication he puts into his lessons each week. He’s absolutely amazing and everyone’s absolutely over the moon for him.

He is also expressed his gratitude to his tutors and the college for their support and understanding while he has been competing.
Oliver is not done yet, as he is heading back to Malta in February to compete in the European Championships! We wish him the best of luck and will be sure to update everyone with how he gets on.
