White Post Farm and Gloworm Festival are thrilled to announce a unique collaboration with Level 2 Art and Design students and Digital Innovation and Development Coach Kate Whyles to create a magical light installation for this year’s festive Light Post Farm event.

Inspired by children’s book illustrators, the students will bring a whimsical menagerie of animal characters to life, illuminating the farm trail with a captivating advent calendar lightbox. This enchanting installation will be a highlight of the event, which has been running from November 21st until December 22nd.

This collaboration provides a fantastic opportunity for our talented students to showcase their creativity in a public space. By working with installation professionals, they gain valuable experience and exposure, while contributing to a community event that brings joy to thousands of visitors. This initiative highlights the innovative and inspiring work taking place at Nottingham College.

Art and Design student, Hamzah Norris, said about the project,

I am interested to see what memories my art will make at the farm. I like it when you see a kid walk over and point at a piece of work and say "wow that's really cool"

Art and Design lecturer, Kathryn Burton, said

This is the second project for the level two students and it has been wonderful to see them so inspired. This fits perfectly alongside their Menagerie project where they take inspiration from both children's book illustrations and the animal world to create their own magical and whimsical artworks. I am very proud of what the students have achieved in such a short period of time and I am looking forward to what the public think!
