We were delighted to welcome so many members of our stakeholder community to the college on 12th March for a special roundtable discussion designed to inform our new 2026–2029 Strategic Plan, launching this summer.
Fliss Miller, Director of Employment and Skills at EMCCA, opened the afternoon with a keynote speech highlighting the vital role of FE and colleges in driving inclusive growth across the region. Her address focused on breaking down barriers, widening access to higher‑level skills, and ensuring more local people can progress into quality training and employment.
Around 60 representatives from our employer, civic, education and community networks joined us to explore how the college can continue to support the ambitions of the city and wider region over the next three years. Their insights will play a key role in shaping a plan that is forward‑looking, ambitious and responsive to the needs of our partners.
Our current strategy concludes this year, following a period marked by significant achievements and impact. The next three years will undoubtedly bring further change - particularly with rapid digital innovation transforming every sector. It is therefore essential that our new plan provides stability for students, aligns with regional priorities and investment frameworks, and ensures we equip employers with the skills they need for the future.
Staff and student perspectives are also central to the development of the new strategy. Feedback from Principal Roadshows, the Staff Forum, Lunch with the Principal and the Student Voice will all contribute to shaping our direction for the years ahead.
