On Wednesday 2nd July, Nottingham College hosted its first annual Students’ Union awards event at the City Hub Theatre, recognising the achievements and development of the 2024–25 executive team.
The afternoon began with refreshments and informal conversations before guests took their seats for the main event. Leanne Anderson, Student Enrichment Lead, opened the ceremony, followed by speeches from the outgoing SU members. Each student shared personal reflections on their time in the role, highlighting the challenges they overcame and the skills they developed.
A presentation by Youth Social Action Apprentice Ellesia Hanna offered a closer look at the team’s journey, followed by a certificate handover led by Zoe Scott, Head of Student Experience at City Hub.
Leanne Anderson closed the event with a few words that captured the spirit of the afternoon:
"What an incredibly heartwarming afternoon it was, celebrating the journey and growth of our amazing Students' Union executive members for 24-25! The first I've had the pleasure of hosting was truly special.
Each speech from our executive team was filled with emotion, a testament to their remarkable personal growth and the development of their leadership skills over the past year. It was genuinely moving to witness how far they've come.
The atmosphere was electric, with staff, students, parents, and even the incoming Students' Union team for next year all coming together to celebrate. Seeing so many people united in support of these incredible young leaders was, without a doubt, my favourite day at work so far.
Huge congratulations to our outgoing Students' Union executive – your dedication and passion have made a real impact, and your futures are incredibly bright!"
The event wrapped up with the introduction of the incoming SU team for 2025–26, group photos, and a chance for attendees to connect and reflect on the year.
