Students studying the T Level in Health are currently in the final year of their two-year course and are completing a four-week block placement designed to enhance their clinical knowledge and practical skills.

During the first week, students attended the T Level Academy, facilitated by the National Health Service (NHS), where they developed key foundational knowledge and gained valuable insight into professional healthcare environments.

In weeks two and three, students were placed across a variety of hospital wards, where they had the opportunity to shadow healthcare professionals including nurses, occupational therapists, and healthcare assistants. During this time, they observed a range of procedures and experienced the day-to-day realities of working in different clinical settings.

By week four, students were able to build on their observations through supervised, hands-on experiences. They practised taking blood pressure readings, assessing patients for pressure sores, calculating and evaluating Body Mass Index (BMI), and learning how to utilise the National Early Warning Score (NEWS) system. Students also developed an understanding of the importance of monitoring patient health using the Bristol Stool Chart, an essential tool used within healthcare settings.

The students thoroughly enjoyed exploring the different wards and gaining real insight into the healthcare profession. One student commented, “I love this ward – it’s so fun!”

These valuable hands-on experiences are helping students develop the essential skills needed to progress into their chosen career pathways. Many are planning to pursue careers in children’s or adult nursing, while others hope to continue their studies in midwifery.

We are also incredibly proud to celebrate the success of one of our students who has received an offer to study medicine at the prestigious University of Anglia Ruskin. This remarkable achievement reflects the dedication, ambition, and hard work demonstrated by our students throughout their placement.
