Following our national Green Gown Award win for Sustainability Institution of the Year (Small Organisation) last year, we’re delighted to have been named a finalist in the International Green Gown Awards for Sustainability Institution of the Year.
The International Green Gown Awards celebrate exceptional sustainability initiatives from colleges, universities and other post-16 education providers across the globe, recognising institutions that are making a meaningful contribution to environmental and social sustainability. The awards also highlight the crucial role education plays in supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Our international shortlisting follows success at the UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards, where judges were impressed by our commitment to achieving net zero by 2030, our ambitious programme to remove fossil fuels from our buildings, and the way sustainability is embedded throughout our curriculum, operations and community engagement activities.
Judges also praised our focus on creating positive change in the communities we serve. They recognised the impact of sustainability initiatives designed to improve lives and opportunities in disadvantaged areas, demonstrating how environmental action can deliver wider social benefits.
Being recognised on the international stage is a significant achievement and reflects the dedication of our staff, students and partners, who work every day to make Nottingham College a more sustainable institution. As we continue our journey towards net zero, we remain committed to creating a positive impact both within our college community and across the wider region.
The winners of the International Green Gown Awards will be announced between the 7th and 11th September.
