Nottingham College is celebrating after being crowned Employer of the Year at the 2026 East Midlands Business of the Year Awards, held at the Crowne Plaza Nottingham on Thursday evening. The award recognises organisations that go above and beyond to support their workforce through skills and training, flexible working, workplace wellbeing initiatives and employee support.

The award highlights our ongoing commitment to creating a workplace where colleagues feel valued, supported and empowered to thrive. It also reflects the significant transformation the college has undergone in recent years, driven by a people-first culture and a shared commitment to excellence.

The award win celebrated our leadership in supporting employee wellbeing. We are one of the first education institutions to introduce dedicated support for colleagues affected by endometriosis, menopause and other menstrual health conditions, while our network of 41 Mental Health First Aiders helps ensure wellbeing support is available across the organisation. Also recognised were our regular CPD Days, flexible working opportunities and recognition initiatives including the STAR Awards and Long Service Awards, further demonstrating Nottingham College's commitment to investing in its people.

These initiatives have helped us become the highest-ranked FE college in the UK for workplace engagement, creating an environment where colleagues can develop their skills, achieve their potential and make a real difference to the lives of students and communities across the region.

The Employer of the Year award was presented as part of an evening that brought together more than 250 business leaders from across the East Midlands to celebrate the organisations and individuals making an impact throughout the region. Nottingham College was named winner from a strong shortlist of employers recognised for their outstanding workplace cultures and commitment to their people.

Winning Employer of the Year is a proud milestone for us and a powerful recognition of the culture our colleagues have built together. As the college continues its journey, supporting the wellbeing, development and success of its staff remains at the heart of everything we do.
