At the end of the week, Nottingham will shine brighter than ever with the return of Light Night 2025!

On Friday 28th February and Saturday 1st March, the city’s streets, shops, and businesses will come alive with stunning light installations for everyone to enjoy, and Nottingham College will be part of the spectacle. 

City Hub and 25 Stoney Street will be home to a range of vibrant exhibitions, projections, designs, sculptures and activities, here’s what to expect: 

City Hub (Open Friday 5pm-10pm and Saturday 5pm-9pm):

A breath-taking Installation in Fletchers Theatre: Sunshine on a Fallen Tree by Pif-Paf honours the endangered Ash tree. Made from steam-bent Ash staves, the installation weaves lights with a 12-minute soundscape reflecting loss, renewal, and hope. Take a moment to pause, reflect, and feel inspired by nature’s resilience. 

  • A beautiful projection of abstract photographs captured by Media & Photography in Fletchers Atrium Windows.
  • A selection of short ‘Installation’ films by Level 3 Y1 TV and Film students screened in the Fletchers Atrium.
  • A *Dance Showcase at the basketball courts … Level 3 Dance and BA Dance and Education students perform extracts from Lord of the Flies and a range of dance works including beautiful light up Angel wings.
  • Fantastic food and drink at Fletchers bar and restaurant cooked by the Nottingham College fine dining team and accompanying students. Serving up pulled chicken wraps, Taylor’s hot dogs, vegetarian tagine, kid’s options. Plus, a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. (Please note we operate a Challenge 25 Policy) 

*Dance performances run 6 – 6.45pm, 7 - 7.45pm and  8 - 8.30pm 

25 Stoney Street (open from 5pm-8pm Friday only)   

Art students from The School of Art and Design at 25 Stoney Street will be showing a range of innovative product designs, projections, decorative illustrations and figurative sculptural work, which will be illuminated as part of Light Night: 
Art students will be exhibiting a range of illuminated innovative product designs, decorative illustrations and sculpture work, including:  

  • - Art and Design Ambassadors - Sellotape sculptures 

    - L3 Yr1 – Paper lanterns L3 Year 2 – Product Design Lamps  

    - L1 – Light based sculptures 

    - L2 – Lamp Designs - hand drawn illustrations 

    - L1 Fashion - Marine Textiles  

    - L3 Access - Showreel of work 

    -HE - hand drawn animation

  • Gallery spaces will be open to visitors as part of the exhibition, where visitors can look round the work on show as well as taking part in family friendly workshops and craft activities including making photograms in the darkroom. 

On the morning of Monday 3rd March, students and staff are invited to come view the exhibition space at 25 Stoney Street along with industry guests from 11:30am-1pm.
