Supporting High-Quality T Level Industry Placements
Nottingham College is committed to working in partnership with employers to provide meaningful and high-quality T Level industry placements for our learners.
To support employers with the additional costs that may be associated with hosting a T Level student, the College has access to a limited Employer Support Fund. As funding is limited, we are seeking to distribute available funds fairly and transparently to ensure that as many employers and learners as possible can benefit from these extended placement opportunities.
Purpose of the Employer Support Fund
The T Level Employer Support Fund is intended to help employers overcome financial barriers associated with delivering high-quality industry placements.
Funding may be used to support legitimate additional costs directly related to hosting a T Level student, including but not limited to:
- Staff time required for supervision, mentoring and induction.
- Additional training required to support the learner.
- Specialist equipment, clothing or PPE required specifically for the placement.
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) costs where applicable.
- Travel costs incurred by the employer in supporting the placement.
- Reasonable administration costs associated with managing the placement.
- Other placement-related expenses that can be evidenced and justified.
The fund is not intended to provide a financial incentive for hosting learners, nor should it replace costs that would normally be incurred by an employer as part of standard business operations.
Available funding pots
Adult Nursing Pathway Employers
A dedicated funding allocation has been made available to support employers hosting learners on the Health T Level Adult Nursing pathway.
- Maximum claim per learner: £650
- Funding is available subject to eligibility, available budget and approval of supporting evidence.
All Other Nottingham College T Levels
A separate funding allocation is available for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) supporting industry placements across all other T Level routes delivered by Nottingham College.
- Maximum claim per learner: £400
- Funding is available subject to eligibility, available budget and approval of supporting evidence.
As the Employer Support Fund is limited, Nottingham College will prioritise applications that demonstrate genuine additional costs associated with supporting the placement.
Our aim is to:
- Support the widest possible range of employers.
- Enable more learners to access valuable industry placement opportunities.
- Ensure fair and equitable use of public funding.
- Maximise the impact of the funding across all T Level programmes.
Submission of a claim does not automatically guarantee reimbursement, and Nottingham College reserves the right to approve claims based on available funding and the evidence provided.
As this funding is subject to audit and scrutiny, employers must retain and provide appropriate evidence to support any claim submitted.
Examples of acceptable evidence may include:
- Invoices and receipts.
- Payroll records demonstrating additional supervisory time.
- Purchase orders.
- Expense claims.
- Training records and associated costs.
- DBS invoices.
- Other documentary evidence supporting the expenditure claimed.
Only costs that can be evidenced and approved by Nottingham College will be eligible for reimbursement.
All claims will be reviewed by Nottingham College before payment is authorised.
Employers should be aware that:
- Claims may be subject to audit by Nottingham College and/or external funding bodies.
- Supporting documentation must be accurate, complete and retained for future reference.
- Nottingham College may request additional evidence before approving a claim.
- Ineligible, unsupported or excessive claims may be rejected or reduced.
Working Together
We greatly value the contribution our employer partners make in developing the future workforce. T Level industry placements provide learners with invaluable real-world experience while helping employers build talent pipelines and support skills development within their sector.
By working together and using the Employer Support Fund responsibly, we can maximise opportunities for learners whilst ensuring funding reaches as many employers as possible.
