Course introduction
This course is perfect if you have completed a Level 1 creative craft or sewing course and are ready to further develop your technical sewing, textile, and design skills. This course is ideal for students who want to build greater confidence and independence within a creative studio environment while exploring fashion, textiles, costume, or handmade craft practices in more depth. It is suited to learners considering progression into further education, specialist creative courses, or future careers within the fashion and textile industries
We recommend this course is studied following the completion of NCFE Level 1 Award in Creative Craft (Sewing Pathway).
You will develop more advanced sewing and creative textile techniques, including garment construction, pattern adaptation, surface decoration, fabric experimentation, and creative project development. The course will encourage you to refine your practical skills while exploring research, design ideas, and professional presentation methods. You will also gain experience working through the creative process from initial concept to finished outcome, helping you build a stronger portfolio of work.
Through studio-based learning, practical workshops, and tutor-led demonstrations, you will strengthen your technical abilities and creative confidence within a supportive and industry-inspired environment. The course encourages independent thinking, experimentation, and the development of your own creative direction while working on a range of fashion and textile projects. You can expect opportunities to expand your portfolio, improve your professional practice, and prepare for progression onto Level 3 study or entry-level opportunities within the creative industries.
