Course introduction
This course is perfect if you have completed a Level 1 textiles creative craft course and want to further develop your technical textile skills, creative ideas, and independent studio practice. This course is ideal for students who are ready to explore textile design in greater depth while building confidence in their creative direction and preparing for higher-level study or creative career pathways.
We recommend this course is studied following the completion of the NCFE L1 AWARD in Creative Craft (Textiles Pathway).
You will expand your understanding of textile processes and develop more advanced skills in areas such as surface pattern, fabric construction, embroidery, print techniques, mixed media textiles, and creative project development. The course encourages you to refine your practical abilities while exploring research, experimentation, and professional presentation methods. You will also gain experience developing projects from concept through to final outcomes, helping you build a stronger creative portfolio.
Through studio-based workshops, practical demonstrations, and industry-inspired projects, you will strengthen both your technical and creative skills within a supportive learning environment. The course promotes experimentation, problem-solving, and the development of your own creative identity while working across a range of textile disciplines. You can expect opportunities to build your portfolio, improve your professional practice, and prepare for progression onto Level 3 study or future opportunities within the fashion, textile, and creative industries.
